Most area locations host a "Kid's Night" or "Family Night". Weekly themes vary but could

Family Movie Night in the Bayou Barn
Second Tuesday of each month - 6:30pm refreshments, 7:00pm movie
Families can enjoy popcorn and lemonade in the Bayou Barn during an acclaimed natural
history movie that runs about 50 minutes. The family movie night series continues on the
second Tuesday of each month through May. Rain or shine. Sims Bayou Urban Nature

In the afternoon, the library offers a gaming and computer room, featuring X-Box and

Mommy & Me Computer Fun
2:00pm - 4:00pm
Enjoy spending time w/ your child(ren) on the computer as they learn, play games & meet

Cry Baby Matinee
Each Friday & Saturday morning at 11:45am the Angelika Film Center and Kiehl’s present
the “Cry Baby Matinee at the Angelika” for frustrated parents all over the Houston. Relax
and enjoy a film at the Angelika without worrying about breastfeeding in the dark or
unexpected hissyfits. They  keep the lights dimmed, the sound volume down, and the films
coming. Baby changing table provided. Regular matinee admission for adults and children
under 5 get in free!

Kid Workshops at The Home Depot
Home Depot stores offer free drop-in Kid Workshops the first Saturday of each month.
Children and their accompanying parent or adult learn about tool safety while building
birdhouses, fire trucks, mail organizers, and other items from pre-fab kits. Each child also
receives a kid-sized Home Depot orange apron and project pin. How-to clinics are offered
for Mom and Dad, too,  9am-12, Home Depots city-wide.

Storybook Club
10:30 - 11:30am
Parents & children under 5 are invited to attend attend the Storybook Club, presented free
by the Teen Council, a select group of high school students employed by the CAMH to
design education programming. Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, 5216 Montrose Blvd.

Make and Take Children's Activities
10:00 - 11:00am
Make & Takes are for kids aged pre-school through elementary. Cost $5 per child or $4 if
you are a member. Parents are welcome to stay and are encouraged to stay if the child is

Breakfast on the Bayou
Start your weekend by enjoying a leisurely Saturday morning breakfast drifting down the
bayou on our “Bayou Ranger” pontoon boat. Observe wildlife searching for their breakfast
on the bayou. Enjoy rolls, juice and coffee while underway. For ages 5 & up. 8:00 - 9:

Kids First Saturday
On the first Saturday of each month, festivities include moonwalks, face painting, a
caricature artist, and crafts, along with community groups and entertainment geared
specifically toward kids. Also, from 10am - 11:30am, girls ages eight to 12 can join the
Fabulous Girls Book Club to discuss its book of the month and enjoy an activity focusing on

Family Space Day
Third Saturday of each month, come to the Lunar and Planetary Institute for hands-on
activities and demonstrations that will allow children and their families to explore the theme
of the day for themselves. Read stories, color pictures, get messy with theme-based

Family Days at Museum of Fine Arts
Enjoy art-making activities, storytelling, performances, sketching in the galleries and more.
Enjoy Creation Station, a drop-in studio workshop. Families make their own paintings,
sculpture, prints, photographs and more—all inspired by art in the museum. Museum of Fine

Free First Sundays
Your family can experience the wide world of art at one of the nation’s premier art
exhibition spaces. Admission is free, and family-friendly programs include musical

KidzPlanet
KidzPlanet is a weekly zany and creative children's theatre production, which uses music
and drama to teach kids about important life values like honesty, respect, and trust.
