WHAT WALKING WITH DINOSAURS – THE LIVE EXPERIENCE
In this live theatrical arena show, 15 roaring, snarling, “live” dinosaurs
mesmerize the audience – and are as awe-inspiring as when they first
walked on earth. Construction took one year, 50 artists and technicians --
engineers, fabricators, skin makers, artists, painters and animatronic
experts – and a workspace big enough to park a 747.
With almost cinematic realism, the show depicts the dinosaurs’ evolution,
complete with the accompanying climatic and tectonic changes. The 90-
minute show, now on a two-year North American arena tour, is based on the
award-winning BBC series. It is produced by Immersion Edutainment,
which is headed by Bruce Mactaggart.
The show is as educational as it is thrilling. Ten species are represented
from the entire 200 million year reign of the dinosaurs, including
Tyrannosaurus Rex, the terror of the ancient terrain. The largest of them, the
Brachiosaurus, is 36 feet tall, and 56 feet from nose to tail. Gloria Goodale
of the Christian Science Monitor said, “When the dinosaurs start pouring out
onto the stage, if you don’t have to stifle the natural flight response of any
living breathing being, then it’s your pulse that needs checking.”
