Teach your toddler a few facts
about kangaroos:
Kangaroos have big back legs
with long feet.
They move by hopping on their
back legs.
They eat grass.
Mommy kangaroos carry their
babies in a pouch.
A baby kangaroo is called a "joey."
Kangaroo Craft
Do this easy Kangaroo Paper Craft

Kangaroo Pouch
Tie a sweater or shirt around your
child's waist (arms of shirt tied
behind him to form a pouch in
fron). Place a small stuffed animal
or babydoll in the "pouch" and let
your child pretend to be a
kangaroo holding his "joey".
Kangaroo Hop
Practice hopping like a kangaroo.
Make a point to hop to all the
rooms of the house. (This is great
exercise too!) Sing this rhyme
while hopping (to the tune of Teddy
Bear, Teddy Bear):
"Kangaroo, kangaroo hop hop hop
Kangaroo, kangaroo please don't
stop."
Sack Race
Have a sack race by putting your
legs into a pillowcase and
hopping from one end of the room
to the next. Try to get your toddler to
do this without falling.

Hoppity the Kangaroo
Hoppity was a kangaroo,
Like the one from London Zoo;
One day he jumped into a fog,

Said Kangaroo, "The fog looks queer,
But now I have a good idea."
"Why don't you hop into my pouch?
It's as comfy as a couch."
"Thank you," said Heinz to Kangaroo,
"What a lovely thing to do."
Now when the fog had cleared away,
What do you think they had to say?
"Let's be friends and stay together."
And off they hopped for ever and ever.
