Bermuda, Bahama...
Come on, SAVE THE DRAMA.
No doubt, Kokomo sounds like a grand idea, but who really has the time or money for an
expensive paradise escape everytime the week gets kinda hectic? Most moms don’t. You
have real lives, real families, and real finances, and when it comes to taking a break, it
usually needs to be real quick. My dear, SIMPLICITY is your best bet. Couldn't you use a
little R & R?
Before “stress” becomes your middle name, treat yourself to one of these simple
pleasures...
1. End the week with a hot, ambrosial bubble bath that is sure to soak away all your weekly
worries. Wait until the kids are in bed on Friday night and enjoy your bath with candles,
rose-scented crystals, and soft jazz tunes.
2. Coax your hubby into pampering you with a sensual, mind-blowing body rub. Passion
oil is totally recommended, but make sure he knows this isn’t your idea of “foreplay” so he
won’t feel “slighted” when you float off into dreamland.
3. Stream of consciousness writing is a soul-free-er. On a blank sheet of paper, write
down the first thing that comes to your mind. In-laws driving you up the wall? Children
behaving like the anti-Christ? Get it off your chest every once in a while. No stops or
pauses until the paper is full!
4. When the breeze is nice outside, take a slow drive through the serene countryside (if
you live in Texas, there’s a countryside somewhere close. Trust me.) Windows down,
radio off.
5. When you take the kids to the park, enjoy your own ride on the swings. Your kids will
enjoy watching you “play,” and every mom needs to fly through the air from time to time.
Afterwards, see who can find the prettiest wildflowers.
6. Be a kid for a day. Stroll down memory lane at the biggest toy store you can find. Make a
small purchase – for yourself - just for fun.
7. READ THROUGH A JOKE BOOK AND LAUGH LIKE CRAZY.
8. Indulge in a slice of chocolate silk pie or banana cream cheesecake. (Did you know
“desserts” backwards spells “stressed”?)
9. Sing in the shower (as heartily as you can). Suggestions: Anything by Prince!
10. Nap (ringer-off style). What could be better?
