Celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week
Every young mind needs a spark to light the way to a brighter future through
learning-and teachers are that spark. In 1984, National PTA established Teacher
Appreciation Week-the first full week in May-to honor the dedicated men and
women who lend their passion and skills to educating our children. We
encourage you and your PTA to recognize all of the ways teachers contribute to the
lives of children. During this special week, help National PTA and its nearly 6
million members show teachers the appreciation they so richly deserve.
Teachers, in partnership with parents, truly make a difference.
1. Email your child's teachers messages of gratitude.
2. Contribute classroom materials, such as poster board,
stickers, high-quality chalk, stamps and ink pads, books,
and other supplies, to your child'’s teachers.
3. Present your child's favorite teacher with a small token of
appreciation, such as a bookmark, key ring, or video rental
certificate.
4. Work with the school's PTA to make banners recognizing
Teacher Appreciation Week and hang them in the halls and
common areas.
5. Donate money to an education-oriented charity in honor
of the teachers at your child's school.
